Varför var säkerheten så kass på Capitol Hill?

Just nu handlar mycket om vem som ringde vem och begärde assistans och det kommer att ta tid innan allt är klart. Det finns misstankar om medvetna val hos ansvariga för att möjliggöra stormningen, och Biden och flera med honom har påpekat att hade det varit BLM som förväntats protestera hade det sett annorlunda ut.

Och först tänkte jag att så kan det väl inte vara, för det skulle vara en sorts absurd rasism. Men efter att ha läst och lyssnat mig igenom en rad insattas tankebanor har jag börjat hålla med. Men det är inte egentligen rasismen som är kärnan, även om den säkert finns med.

I en svartvit värld utan nyanser är Trump för polisen och Biden emot. Man ville inte tro att Trumpanhängare kunde begå ett terrordåd. Och flera av de tillresta terroristerna var poliser eller militärer. De var där för att skydda sitt land.

Lou Dobbs, som är en grymt obehaglig Trumpförsvarare på Fox News, har ett rätt urspårat Twitterflöde. Jag läser det för att förstå, och det märks att han är förvirrad eftersom hans världsbild gick i kras när det han kämpat för i åratal plötsligt visat sig vara The Dark Side.

Han ifrågasätter varför stormningen kallas terrordåd, men inte Antifas och BLMs eldande av stadskärnor. Well. Det är ju rätt enkelt. BLM är en organisation, och de fördömde konsekvent allt våld. Antifa har ingen ledning. Men framförallt är ”terrordåd” något som utförs för att uppnå ett politiskt syfte. Därför passar den benämningen här men inte där. Terroristernas syfte var att stoppa rösträknandet och utnämningen av Biden som president. Eldandet hade inget syfte, utan det var urspårade individer som löpte amok, och syftet med plundringarna var uppenbarligen stjälande.

Men ordet ”terrorist” har ju blivit synonymt med ISIS, Al Qaida, eller, kort och gott, muslimer.

Förstå hur det snurrar i hjärnorna på Dobbs, Carlson, Ingraham, Hannity.

Dobbs retweetar också en uppenbart manipulerad bild av Antifa-anhängare som har en skylt där det står ”Ashli Babbitt deserved it”. Och hur Trumpförsvarare ska förhålla sig till henne är än knepigare.
Hon representerar allt de står för. Veteran. Konservativ. Älskade Trump och reste till DC för att försvara sitt land. Och så dödades hon av polis när hon begick ett terrordåd. Var hon god eller ond? Hur ska en svartvit Trumpförsvarare förhålla sig till henne? Tucker Carlson höll bara någon dag efter terrordådet en upprörd monolog där han ifrågasatte varför inte ”The Left” var upprörda över att hon skjutits av polis. ”Imagine if that was your daughter!” Hon sköts medan hon begick ett terrordåd, med syfte att stoppa den demokratiska processen. Tragiskt? Absolut. Men det finns andra som bättre förtjänar empati.

”All Muslims are not terrorists, but every terrorist is a Muslim” är ett etablerat uttryck på nationalistkanten. Det har iofs aldrig varit sant, men nu måste det stå klart även för den mest övertygade.

Stormningen av Capitol Hill var ett terrordåd. De som deltog var terrorister.

Och ironin är magnifik när just de som hela tiden pekat på faran med muslimer plötsligt måste säga ”all Trump supporters are not terrorists”.

”This was just a small percentage”, säger Laura Ingraham med sin vanliga, upprörda rynka i pannan. ”You can’t blame this on everyone that supports Trump!”

Did he ask them to kill her?

”Hillary wants to abolish – essentially abolish the Second Amendment. By the way, if she gets to pick, if she gets to pick her judges, nothing you can do, folks. Although the Second Amendment people, maybe there is, I don’t know.”

Those who defend Donald Trump have been wrestling over these words.

”It was a joke!” That was the first interpretation, and probably the most true one, from a former, now fired, campaign manager, Corey Lewandowski.

”This is a political movement. This is a strong political movement, the Second Amendment, and there can be no other interpretation … I mean, give me a break.”

This is what Trump now told his favorite pundit Sean Hannity, and it’s the version that is explained over and over by his supporters.

“What we’re talking about is political power, there’s tremendous political power to save the Second Amendment, tremendous. You look at the power they have in terms of votes and that’s what I was referring to, obviously that’s what I was referring to and everybody knows it.”

I just have to poke around a bit among the sentences.

First of all: He didn’t actually tell them to kill her. So in order to prove that’s what he said, every other interpretation must be ruled out.

Who are ”the second amendment people”? Well, since not even Donald himself denies that he referred to the gun owners, that is a given.

Now, the interpretation he has provided, that he wanted them to vote, is not valid, simply because he starts with an ”if”, and what follows depends on that ”if”.

”If she gets to pick” places us in a situation where she was already elected. You can’t continue that sentence with ”we must make sure she wasn’t elected”, unless you’re in possession of a time machine.

Everything that follows ”if she gets to pick” must be based on the assumption that we’re in a future where Hillary Clinton is the president.

So, let’s simplify the sentences. What he said boils down to:

”When HRC has been elected president, gun owners can still do something about it”.

What can they do? Certainly not vote, for another four years. I would really love to hear any of DJT’s supporters provide alternative interpretations to ”shoot her”. Here are some suggestions:

  • Sulk and hide
  • Move to a war zone like Syria
  • Buy an island and fund a new country
  • Protest in the streets singing anti peace songs like ”We shall undercome” and ”Imagine all the people living life in war”

If I were on his side, I would have stuck with ”I made a bad joke”. It’s probably half true. The other half of the truth is most likely that he is so into his poisonous rhetoric that he thinks suggesting to shoot her is an acceptable thing to say, like the next step after ”lock her up” and ”she should be shot by a firing squad”.
